Ukrainian government continues to work on the acquisition of Ukraine's energy independence, despite the decline in price for Russian gas, energy and coal industry minister of Ukraine Eduard Stavytsky told a briefing in the Cabinet of Ministers, ForUm correspondent reports.

"Agreement with Slovakia will be signed before the year-end. We work hard for Ukraine to be energy independent," Stavytsky said, assuring that gas prices cuts won’t change the government's plans.

"The question of increase in own gas production is constantly being considered by the government. We conduct intensive work. Shell and Chevron determined the selling price of 250-270 dollars, that is, new Russian gas price for Ukraine won’t influence their economic performance," he explained.
