More and more enterprises of the food industry in Ukraine are adopting international quality management system. For example, 40 food enterprises in Dnipropetrovsk region have introduced (certified) ISO System of 9000, 14000 and 22000 series. These quality systems are at various stages of development and implementation at six enterprises in the region, the Information-Analytical Bulletin of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine reports.
At the same time, 30 food enterprises in Dnepropetrovsk region implemented the food safety management system (HACCP -Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points, the concept involves the systematic identification, assessment and control of hazards significantly affecting product safety). The HACCP system operates at the majority of the leading Ukrainian enterprises of the dairy, fat, confectionery and alcohol industry.
"This is an important step in improving quality of food products in the region and the export of our products to the world market," said Vadim Udovickiy, director of the Department of agriculture, rural development and market environment of the Regional State Administration.
Development of the region in terms of quality began in 2009, when a GMO testing laboratory was opened on the basis of SE Dneprostandartmetrologiya. The GMO lab has been certified, laboratory specialists passed the required theoretical and practical training in testing and got the appropriate international certificates. The laboratory purchased modern analytical equipment from world famous manufacturers, which enables to test for GMOs at a high level and as soon as possible.
