President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych assured the U.S. Congress senators that the government will do everything possible to ensure the right of citizens to peaceful demonstrations, the President’s press office informs.

According to the statement, this was discussed during the meeting of the President with the member of the U.S. Senate, member of the Foreign Affairs Committee John McCain, and the member of the U.S. Senate, chairman of the Subcommittee on European Affairs of the Foreign Affairs Committee Christopher Murphy.

Yanukovych also promised that everything will be done for a fair and transparent investigation into the events of November 30, 2013 in the Maidan Nezalezhnosti Square in Kyiv.

During the meeting, the parties discussed a wide range of foreign policy issues in Ukraine. In particular, the President once again stressed the immutability of the European integration course of Ukraine, as well as loyalty to national interests. The parties agreed to continue the dialogue.
