The Interior Ministry of Ukraine admits that some police officers committed violations during clashes in the Maidan Nezalezhnosti Square in Kyiv on November 30. It is reported by the Ministry’s press office.

According to the report, interior minister Vitaly Zakharchenko ordered to set up a special commission to conduct the internal investigation into actions of police officers during the events in the Maidan Nezalezhnosti Square on November 30. The commission members have studied a large scope of information, including media reports. The chief of Kyiv police and law enforcement officers, who were on duty to protect public order in Maidan on that night, were interrogated.

"According to preliminary findings, there are evidences that officials of the Kyiv Interior Ministry department, responsible for organization of the protection of public order during mass events, and individual police officers committed violations of the law of Ukraine and of a number of departmental regulations," the Ministry states.

However, taking into account that circumstances and application of special means and physical force by individual police officers are the subject of pre-trial investigation, carried out by the Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine, the final legal assessment can be given only after its results.
