On Dec. 11, 2013, Ukraine's Cabinet adopted the Resolution "On redistribution of expenditures of the State Budget for centralized activities by administrative-territorial units," which had been prepared by the Ministry of Health, the Information-Analytical Bulletin of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine informs.

The measure declares government support to ensure provision of immunobiological and anti-TB drugs for TB patients; medications for patients with viral hepatitis B and C, and children with resistant juvenile rheumatoid arthritis.

After completion of tenders for centralized procurement of drugs, medications and medical products, 18.665 million UAH were left over undistributed.

The Ministry of Health decided to use the money towards additional purchase of medication: 630,600 UAH for the treatment of children with juvenile rheumatoid arthritis, and 12.186 million UAH for the treatment of children with viral hepatitis B and C. 5.217 million UAH have been appropriated for purchase of TB drugs.

In total, the State Budget envisioned 2.3 billion UAH for health programs in 2013.

Fighting tuberculosis is a priority of the government in the health sector, along with the fight against AIDS. Last year, the Cabinet approved the Nationwide social target counter tuberculosis program initiated by the President.

Reporting on the status of the Program, the Alexander Tolstanov, Deputy Minister of Health of Ukraine said that implementation of the Program was going on schedule. He also said that due to improved management of TB drugs, in the 9 months of 2013, the number of patients covered with treatment grew thanks to the state budget - from 4,432 to 6,264 persons.
