Opening the Cabinet's meeting on November 11, Prime Minister Mykola Azarov requested the Ministry of Social Policy to ensure timely payment of all increased social benefits, the Information-Analytical Bulletin of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine informs.

"I instruct the Ministry of Social Policy to take all the necessary organizational measures to ensure payment of increased social benefits unconditionally and timely. The government keeps under control all re-calculations and payment," Azarov said.

He also reminded that  the state social standards, cost of living, minimum wage and respective social and pension payments were increased starting from December 1, 2013. However, Prime Minister noted that the schedule of payments is delayed due to blocking of administration and government buildings by street protesters.

"The blocked government, Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Social Policy are not physically able to repay delayed payments as promised - by December 10. But, for the  people every day is a matter of survival," Mykola Azarov said.

Experts note that the government will have to reconsider arrear payment schedules, which were made before the start of the country's political standoff. For this reason, the State Treasury managed to transfer 800 million hryvnya for social benefits  on Dec. 10.
