President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych expressed condolences to President of South Africa Jacob Zuma over the death of Nelson Mandela, the President’s press service reports.
"It is with deep sadness that Ukraine has received the news about the death of former President of South Africa, prominent political figure, Nobel Peace Prize laureate Nelson Mandela," the Head of State noted.
"For many generations he was an example of the power of spirit, adherence to principles and firmness of character," Yanukovych emphasized.
The President expressed confidence that the name of Nelson Mandela will remain in the history as a symbol of selfless service to the people.
According to the Head of State, Ukraine pays tribute to the great son of African Continent who has always been faithful to humanistic ideals, high spiritual values, principles of democracy and justice.
"Sharing the sorrow over the irreparable loss, I ask to convey sincere condolences and words of support to friends and relatives of Nelson Mandela as well as to all the people of South Africa," Yanukovych said.
