Maia Kocijancic, Spokesperson to High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission Catherine Ashton, told a BTB correspondent that the EU was ready to discuss problem points of the Association and FTA agreement with Ukrainian delegation.

She also confirmed that the idea of revision of the Agreement text was proposed by Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych during a phone talk with EC President Jose Manuel Barroso. "We have confirm our readiness to receive Ukrainian delegation to discuss various aspects of implementation of the Association and free trade area agreement," Kocijancic said.

Commenting on the events happening in the Independence Square of Kyiv, the official said that the EU believes that all civil rights of citizens, including freedom of speech, are observed and respected in Ukraine.

"However, we also believe that all parties involved should refrain from any form of violence. I think, it is important for Ukrainian authorities to contact all political forces of the country to find a peaceful political solution. We call upon all political forces to sit down for the talks," Kocijancic summed up.
