Tariffs for passenger and freight railroad transport will not go up in 2014. This was stated by Sergei Bolobolin, General Director of Ukrzaliznytsya (UZ) during the meeting with the Trade Union of Railroad Employees and Transport Construction Workers of Ukraine, the Information-Analytical Bulletin of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine reports.

"Meeting social obligations has been and is a priority for us. Thus, no indexation of tariffs is planned for next year. Next year we expect to increase the volume of freight traffic by at least 1%, and have increased revenues from that. All social obligations envisioned by Industry Agreement and collective agreements, as before, will be met in full", Bolobolin said.

Analysts report that no indexation of tariffs for rail freight has occurred for three years: in 2009, 2010 and 2012. In 2013, the average indexation of tariffs for transportation of goods by rail within Ukraine was 4.6%, experts say. They also report that the increase of tariffs has brought the industry additional 650 million UAH, of which 80%, or 490 million UAH, were directed to social programs and pay raises.
