Ministry of Defense is planning to launch military schools in the framework of reforming the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), the Information-Analytical Bulletin of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine reports.

The ministry plans to establish military schools that will educate around 2,000 cadets on the basis of 3 training centers in Poltava, Kirovohrad and Mykolaiv regions.

Ministry officials say military schools will specialise in high social orientation. Thus, almost half of the cadets will be socially disadvantaged: from large families, orphans or those deprived of parental care.
At the same time, the transition of military education to the higher level will be helped by NATO. The NATO experts will advise Ukrainian colleagues in the field of modern methods of military-theoretical training, which will be applied at new military schools.

In general, a comprehensive program of development and reform of AFU involves modernization of military education, which should be a key element of successful reform and creation of a professional army, government analysts say. After all, the modern Armed Forces of Ukraine may be created only based on quality education of officers to be.

Military schools are a key element in the training of military personnel of the Ukrainian army, as the fighting capacity of the army largely depends on the practical "baggage" of knowledge and skills brought to the army by recent graduates. New military schools should be the foundation for highly skilled professionals for the modern professional army.
