Ambassadors of EU and U.S. condemn attack on government buildings during demonstrations in Kyiv on Sunday and call for a peaceful protest.

"We condemn the violence in the Bankova Street and the attack on public buildings, and urge all the parties to avoid confrontation," a joint statement of EU Ambassador to Ukraine Jan Tombinski and U.S. Ambassador Geoffrey Pyatt says.

Diplomats expressed their support for basic human rights: freedom of speech, freedom of assemblies, as well as free and open media.

"We call on all the layers of the Ukrainian society to overcome their disagreements peacefully. We call on all interested parties to the political process to establish a direct dialogue, promote mutually acceptable settlement of the current controversy," the ambassadors said.
