President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych noted that trilateral negotiations in the format Ukraine – EU – Russia were necessary for the elimination of obstacles to the establishment of FTA with the EU.
In his commentary to "Interfax-Ukraine", the President stressed that Ukrainian party had offered to conduct such negotiations in order to eliminate "Russian demands".
"We are interested in unblocking the signature of the Agreement on Strategic Partnership with Russia," the Head of State noted.
"Ukraine has also a lot of issues that are to be solved in the nearest time in the format Ukraine – EU – Russia," the President said.
"The issue of GTS is also in this triangle. We have discussed it not only with the heads of the European Commission, but also at bilateral level, for example with Federal Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel," he added.
Yanukovych stressed that one shouldn't contradistinguish policy "East-West". "We must find the way that would be beneficial for everyone," the President said.
The Head of State emphasized that Ukrainian economy couldn't bear losses due to some contradictions between partners.
He added that Ukraine and Russia had a lot of bilateral issues that "are not being solved recently".
