Ukraine and the EU initialed the agreement on common aviation area.

The agreement was initialed in Vilnius on Thursday on the eve of the summit of the "Eastern Partnership".

"The agreements, reached in Vilnius, will allow the EU and Ukraine to become partners in field of aviation through the gradual integration in this market," vice-president of the European Commission for Transport Siim Kallas said.

Chairman of the State Aviation Administration of Ukraine Anatoly Kolesnik initialed the agreement on Ukrainian party.

The parties plan to sign the agreement in 2014. It aims at the gradual opening of the respective aviation markets and integration of Ukraine into the European aviation area. With this end, our country will have to bring its legislation into line with EU aviation standards and implement EU requirements in such areas as aviation safety, air traffic management, environmental protection, economic regulation, competition and consumer protection.
