EU’s responsive attitude to Ukraine can become a guarantee of mutually beneficial cooperation, MEP Leonidas Donskis said in exclusive comments to ForUm correspondent in Vilnius.
According to politician, Brussels should abandon arrogance and cynicism regarding the Eastern partners, believe in these countries and to show it not just with rhetoric, but real politics. "The European Union itself is still in the middle of the formation, it needs potential of Ukraine and other Eastern partners," he noted.
He added that only Poland and Lithuania among all the EU countries have the constant and active policy towards Ukraine. "Although the EU has no problems with the admission of new small countries (Baltics, Czech Republic, etc.), it does not have a clear policy regarding new major countries - Turkey and Ukraine," the MEP said.
