Pause in signing of the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement must make it clear to the EU that further negotiations should be tripartite. This was announced by member of the Presidium of the General Council of "United Russia" Andrey Klimov at the public forum "Eurasian Economic Integration: achievements and problems", ForUm correspondent reports from Kazan.

"The EU has turned out to be not ready to consider the issue of the Ukrainian integration by the three parties. After some pause, there is a chance that Brussels will understand that the tripartite talks are the only possible way, in which we may not lose prospects to continue the dialogue. This should be a lesson for many countries. Posing ultimatums (on part of EU – Ed.) cools eagerness. Russia expects the EU to start negotiations," Klimov said.

He also noted that Ukraine misunderstands Russian aspirations.

"The main obstacle to the understanding of the Russia-EU-Ukraine relations is a myth that the Russian Federation is a locomotive, moving from the European values to taiga. It’s nothing like that. We are talking about something else. Russia offers EU not just strategic partnership. Russia is ready to go to what Putin calls the "Great Europe" with the single market. Russian wants the integration process to be mutual, not made upon a pattern. After all, it is necessary to take into account our particularities," he said.
