Public prosecution must become more open and transparent for the society and the methods of its reformation must become an example for the others, President Viktor Yanukovych stated at the solemn meeting on the occasion of the Day of Prosecutors, ForUm learned from the press service of the Head of State.

"The new CPC became the basis for the reformation of public prosecution. Now, there is a necessity to amend the activity of public prosecution beyond the criminal-legal sphere and update its regulatory framework. Abandoning the obsolete function of general monitoring, you should focus on the protection of public and state interests," the Head of State said.

According to him, coverage of the results of work by the media will positively influence the level of social trust.

The priorities of the reformed public prosecution, according to the President, are the restoration of labor and social rights of the most disadvantaged and vulnerable as well as real protection of children’s rights.

"There cannot be a single unsolved problem in the sphere of protection of minors and children deprived of parental care, implementation of children’s right to education and health improvement," Yanukovych said.
