Employment level has increased in Ukraine, social policy minister Natalia Korolevska told a briefing in the Cabinet of Ministers, ForUm correspondent reports.

"Implementation of the provisions of the employment law already gives us some results. In the first half of this year, employment level rose to 60.2%. Unemployment has lowered. If the first half of 2012 it was 7.8 %, over the same period in 2013 it was 7.5 %," Korolevska said.

She noted that today the unemployment rate in Ukraine is lower than in many EU countries and on average it makes up 11%.

"At the same time we have a number of negative signals. In particular, since the beginning of the year, employers have applied for the mass dismissal of 304 thousand workers across Ukraine. We managed to restrain the situation and a very minor part of the employees was really fired," she said.
