Development of public-private partnership (PPP) in Ukraine is one of the government’s priorities. It allows to solve a number of problems associated with financing of infrastructure projects in the regions, the Information-Analytical Bulletin of the cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine informs.
This was stated by Viktor Kovalenko, Director of Department for Investment and Innovation Policy and Development of Public-Private Partnership of Ministry of Economic Development and Trade, speaking during the government's video conference "Status of public-private partnership implementation."
Ministry of Economic Development experts say the government’s steps aimed to develop PPP have brought positive results. Almost 80 PPP projects were launched in 2013.
Over 150 projects were implemented at the beginning of 2013. Now there are over 220 completed projects. In addition, about 500 PPP projects are at various stages of completion.
According to independent economic analysts, today the main task for the central government is to simplify project approval and preparation procedures, thus making the PPP mechanism accessible and attractive for the regions. Active popularization of PPP projects is also necessary, as well as positive results for the regions and ordinary citizens, received due to their implementation.
