Deterioration of relations with Russia in the economic sphere makes Ukraine to suspend the Association Agreement with the EU. This was stated by chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Volodymyr Rybak during the meeting with mayor of Ottawa John Watson within the framework of the official visit to Canada.

According to Rybak, since Russia is a strategic partner of Ukraine, it is necessary to review the state of bilateral relations in the economic sphere.

However, the Verkhovna Rada chairman said that Ukraine is not considering the issue of signing the agreement on accession to the Customs Union.

He said that Ukraine's leadership continues to work with the European institutions. "I think the time will come, and we will sign the Association Agreement with the EU," he said.

Rybak also raised the issue of the need to simplify the visa regime for Ukrainians.

"Our fellow citizens should have opportunity to see the lives of people in other countries to realize the importance of implementing high standards of living in their state," Rybak concluded.
