The State Emergency Service of Ukraine and Ministry of Internal Affairs of Republic of Moldova have signed a Plan of joint action for civil protection 2014-2016. The document is approved pursuant to an intergovernmental agreement on cooperation in the field of prevention of industrial accidents, natural disasters and elimination of their consequences.
The Joint Action Plan was signed in Mogilev-Podolsky, Vinnytsia region. Anatoliy Boyko, Deputy Chair of State Emergency Service, signed the plan on behalf of Ukraine, the Information-Analytical Bulletin of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine informs.
Also, special tactical exercises were held to work out interaction of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine and Civil Protection and Emergency Service of Ministry of Internal Affairs of Moldova during search and rescue operations typical for border areas of the two countries. Some 180 rescuers and 47 pieces of equipment were engaged for joint exercises.
Experts say the environmental footprint is so large in the world today that in case of a major industrial accident or natural disaster, even the most powerful state may not be able to deal with the consequences alone. One might quote examples of the Chernobyl accident in Ukraine, the Fukushima accident in Japan, earthquakes in Turkey and Armenia, floods in Western Europe, wildfires in Russia. Their consequences were eliminated by emergency service rangers from other countries.
