According to the Commercial Headquarters of Ukrainian Railways (Ukrzalianitsia), in the ten months of 2013 the freight traffic through International Transport Corridors (ITC) amounted to 174.64 million tons, up 4,124 million tons (2.4%) year-on-year, the Information-Analytical Bulletin of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine reports.

The freight traffic through ITC was raised mainly due to the export goods, whose volume is up 3.7% (or 5.01 million tons), to 139.75 million tons from 2012. The volume of shipments of imports amounted to 30.3 million tons, transit - 4.63 million tons.

In general, in the ten months of 2013, the Ukrainian railways transported 364.7 million tons of cargo. In particular, the experts point out that 28.8 million tons of cargo were brought in the country, which corresponds to the level of last year. The volume of export cargo totaled 118.12 million tons, up 0.7% from last year. At the same time, the volume of domestic traffic totaled 189.77 million tons, transit cargo - 27.99 million tons.

Government analysts note that the main purpose of building and developing International Transport Corridors through Ukraine is to increase the efficiency of domestic transit capacity and ensure its implementation based on international agreements and arrangements, to strengthen the economic security of the country. At the same time, experts believe it is important to attract transit of the third countries and thereby obtain additional foreign exchange earnings.
