Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov is hopeful that trilateral negotiations involving Ukraine, Russia and the European Union will be held soon.

"These [trilateral] talks will allow us to sort out differences and continue to follow a certain strategy without any catastrophic losses for the Ukrainian economy," Azarov said at the country's parliament on Friday.

Russia's main condition for holding such talks was that they should take place prior to the signing of the Ukraine-EU Association and Free Trade Area Agreement, he said.
