The National Energy Regulatory Commission (NERC) has held round-table consultations with the representatives of civil society organizations about the prospects of the introduction of incentive pricing in the power generation sector, the Information-Analytical Bulletin of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine informs.
The attendees reviewed the European practice of incentivized regulation and discussed its advantages for the Ukrainian economy, investors and consumers.
NERC experts note that the government’s effort is aimed to create a favorable investment climate that will attract private companies to modernize the power generation industry infrastructure. It is necessary to increase the energy security of the state and to ensure a reliable supply of wholesale and retail electricity consumers.
The achievement of these goals will be promoted by the introduction of incentivizing tariff practice in the power sector, which will help investors save significant money on operating costs, more accurately forecast revenue from its activities and increase the market value of the company.
