Naftogaz Ukrainy CEO Yevhen Bakulin met in Moscow on Wednesday with Gazprom CEO Alexei Miller to discuss the resumption of Russian gas exports to Ukraine under the existing contract.

They also discussed the need to maintain adequate reserves of gas in underground storage in Ukraine to ensure transit of Russian gas to Europe and a successful fall and winter season, Interfax-Ukraine informed.

In addition, Miller and Bakulin examined a possible extension of the time Ukraine has to repay its debt for Russian gas.

As the dispute over Naftogaz's growing indebtedness heated up at the beginning of November, Naftogaz first reduced and then halted purchases of Russian gas. The imports resumed over the weekend, stabilizing at a level just above 100 million cubic meters a day on November 17-18, the Central Dispatching Department of the Fuel and Energy Complex (CDU TEK) reported.
