Ukraine is already technically prepared to participate in European projects to develop infrastructure of geospatial data in accordance with the European guidelines and directives, said Sergey Timchenko, Chairman of Ukraine's State Agency of Land Resources, during the EuroGeographics Conference on knowledge-sharing held recently in Brussels, the Information-Analytical Bulletin of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine informs.

During the event, the Ukrainian delegation took part in discussions on a range of issues of common interest. The expansion of cooperation in the field of geodesy, cartography, cadaster and geospatial data were discussed. 

"Ukraine's participation in European projects is another step on the way to European integration,” Timchenko said. “This collaboration will help establish relations with both developers and users of geospatial information to promote long-term mutual support."

Under the agreement, EuroGeographics will provide advice and methodological assistance to State Agency of Land Resources of Ukraine in terms of legal regulation of national geospatial data infrastructure. This will help to implement the principles of the European Directive INSPIRE, as well as on technical issues, such as creation and conversion of databases, software development, etc.

In turn, the State Agency of Land Resources delegation presented views on the prospects of development of geographic information technologies in Ukraine, creation of a National Spatial Data Infrastructure, development of the State Land Cadaster, management and conservation of land resources.
