For September of 2013 the population of Ukraine decreased by 6.25 thousand people, and as of October 1, 2013 made 45 million 455 thousand 65 people, the State Statistics Service reports.
In particular, as of October 1, 2013 urban population made 31 million 329 thousand 453 people, and rural population - 14 million 125 thousand 612 people.
Natural decrease in population for January-September period of 2013 made 117 thousand 732 people, and the rate of natural increase made 3.5 per thousand citizens of Ukraine.
For 2012 the population of Ukraine decreased by 80 thousand people - to 45 million 553 thousand people. Following the statistics of 2011, Ukraine's population made 45 million 633.6 thousand people, having reduced by 144.9 thousand people comparing to 2010 (45 million778.5 thousand).
According to the UN forecasts, if the current depopulation rate is observed till 2030, the population of Ukraine will decrease to 39 million people. As the UN demographic report reads, Ukraine has the lowest rate of natural increase in the world.
