Orion Science Research Institute gets new management

The Cabinet of Ministers has passed a resolution to put ownership of the State Enterprise Orion Science Research Institute under the jurisdiction of the State Agency for Science, Innovation and Informatization, the Information-Analytical Bulletin of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine informs.

Experts say transfer of the  Orion Institute to the State Agency will help strengthen management of the company and will create conditions for a tight integration with the State Corporation Ukroboronprom. This, in turn, can lead to the formation of industrial-innovative cluster of complete cycle semiconductor technology integrated within Ukraine's military-industrial complex.

 

Government analysts emphasize that the Orion Institute has unique technologies to support design and manufacture of a wide range of active and passive microwave components, which are recognized throughout the world. The company exports its products to Russia, USA, South Korea, China, and Taiwan. Innovations of the institute in the field of microwave components and semiconductors are protected by 475 patents of Ukraine, USA and Japan.

The instruments developed by the Orion Institute may be used in radars, navigation and measuring instruments, communications systems and equipment, security devices, sensors for various applications, as well as in medical equipment. The main activity of the Institute is to create and design guidance systems for anti-aircraft missile systems, which by their tactical and technical characteristics are ones of the best in the world. According to government experts, Orion is actively involved in a number of important national defense programs in Ukraine and Russia.
