Countries of the European Union, which insist on the release of Yulia Tymoshenko, in fact block the European integration of Ukraine and drag our country to the Customs Union, MP of the Party of Regions Volodymyr Oliynyk told journalists, ForUm's correspondent reports.
He also informed that today, November 13, he is planning to speak in the parliament about losses Ukraine has suffered due to the gas contract signed by Tymoshenko.
"We believe that signing this contract was a crime. Basing on this contract Russia keeps pressing on Ukraine and demands an advanced payment, which conflicts with the interests of our country. Some of our European partners say that if the Tymoshenko's case is not solved, the Association agreement will not be signed. Thus, I have a question: are there European countries which believe Ukraine must be in the Customs Union? And answering my own question I must say that there are. I do not understand the logic... We have signed the gas charter with Europe, and Russia has signed it but has not ratified. Moreover, contrary to our interests it agrees on construction of bypassing gas routes. I believe it means that for them gas is more important than European values," the MP said.
Moreover, Oliynyk also wants to know why European courts do not say anything on the issue. "Some our European colleagues have not even waited for a decision of the European court and already declared "not guilty". Let's be honest, Tymoshenko's case has nothing to do with all this. Some EU countries just use it as a pretext to turn us down," the MP added.
