In the first 9 months of 2013, the housing sector performed work for a total of 7 billion UAH, which is up 7.2% year-on-year. This was announced by Gennady Temnik, Minister of Regional Development, Construction and Housing and Communal Services of Ukraine, the Information-Analytical Bulletin of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine informs.

"This has been achieved primarily at the expense of the population and through implementation of the state housing programs, for which, in the current year, given the multiplication effect, 2 billion UAH will be raised," Temnik said.

Government experts say another positive trend of the sector is the deployment of individual housing construction through usage of a construction passport. This was made possible by deregulation of industry legislation. As a result, the right to erect buildings has been given to about 60,000 individual developers. The measure also helps manufacturers of building materials and construction companies create new jobs.

Experts point out that the rate of individual housing construction is slightly inhibited by complex procedures of land allocation. However, the Ministry of Regional Development has updated the existing general layouts of cities, which will enable the inclusion of promising lots for individual construction in the planning documentation.
Temnik says that Ukrainian manufacturing companies are ready to fully meet the need for domestic materials and products if there is a construction boom.

Some 21 enterprises in 2012 producing construction materials were commissioned with 22 more scheduled to be launched by the end of 2013.
