It is not necessary for "Naftogaz of Ukraine" to buy gas from OJSC "Gazprom" till the end of this year, energy and coal industry minister Eduard Stavytsky stated, ForUm correspondent reports.

"The first decade actually passed without purchase of the Russian gas. We have full storages, so we do not need to increase the volume of Russian gas purchases," the minister said.

According to Stavytsky, the gas import will be resumed when it becomes necessary.

"Now the experts are doing the final calculations. Thank God, we have warm weather, and demand for gas has reduced by almost 45% of what "Naftogaz" planned. We believe that we don’t need to buy Russian gas by the end of the year," he said.
