Following the full completion and commissioning, the reconstruction of Units 1 and 2 of Verhneantonovsky water intake and the drinking water main in Kherson will ensure round-the-clock supply of high-quality drinking water for over 150,000 Kherson residents. This was stated by Nicolay Kostiak, Chairman of Kherson Regional State Administration, during a presentation of completed project for reconstruction of water main in Antonovka village, the Information-Analytic Bulletin of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine informs.

Experts say the reconstruction of water intake will ensure the additional supply of the city with 15,000 m3 of high-quality drinking water daily, and switching to permanent water supply of all Kherson residents in 2014. Due to progress achieved by local state administration and the government, 83% of Kherson residents actually receive fresh drinking water water 24/7, instead of according to a schedule, as was the case previously.

"We have achieved 83% uninterrupted water supply. In the near future, by the 70th anniversary of Kherson region (founded on March 30, 1944), we will fully complete the job," Kostiak pledged.

Cabinet of Ministers Decree No 508 envisions allocation in 2013 of 8.66 million UAH for reconstruction of Verhneantonovsky water intake, to finish construction of Unit 2 of drinking water main (2 of 2.5 kilometers actually completed), reconstruction of six artesian wells, re-connection of 19 artesian wells to new drinking water main, et cetera.
