Ukraine has enough financial resources to pay social benefits to the population, Prime Minister Mykola Azarov said during a meeting with representatives of the Ukrainian public associations of the disabled, ForUm correspondent reports.

"We have a problem with exporting goods to the Russian Federation, a number of other problems associated with the high gas prices, a large debt load, but the country has money for such urgent needs as social payments," Azarov said.

However, the PM noted that the government's task is somewhat broader. "If we limit ourselves to social benefits, the country will not develop, so we always have to find a balance between what can be allocated for social protection, and what is necessary for the development of the country," the head of government said.
