Signing of the Association Agreement with the European Union is aimed at the modernization of Ukraine and it should not be politicized, Prime Minister Mykola Azarov said during a meeting with representatives of the Ukrainian public associations of the disabled, ForUm correspondent reports.
"Some people politicize the issue, saying that if the agreement is not signed, we do not go to Europe, and if it is signed – we will be in Europe tomorrow. Both points of view are wrong. First of all, we do it for ourselves, realizing the need for fundamental reform of our state and its modernization," the Prime Minister noted.
Speaking about the obligations regarding the technical standards and technical regulations, which Ukraine is to take over, joining the FTA agreement with the EU, Azarov said: "We endorse not the papers, but the enormous program of modernization of the country."
The Prime Minister also noted that to date, one of the important issues is finding sources for the modernization of the country.
He said that the opening of EU markets is an advantage for Ukraine, at the same time, noting that Ukraine needs to work hard to be competitive in these markets.
