The Constitutional Assembly of Ukraine has already prepared amendments to the Fundamental Law concerning the administrative-territorial division and local governments and will consider them no later than December 6. This was announced by head of the Department of Constitutional and Legal Modernization of the Presidential Administration of Ukraine Maryna Stavniichuk at the round table "Local government Reform in Ukraine".
She stressed that proposals for amendments to the Constitution will be submitted to the Venice Commission.
Stavniichuk also expressed the hope that the concept of the reform of local self-government and territorial organization of power in Ukraine will be approved "soon".
"If, after the Vilnius summit, the issue of administrative reform of local government is put on the agenda as one of the priority issues of cooperation between Ukraine and the EU, it will only speed up and give a new impetus to the conduct of appropriate reforms in Ukraine," she said.
