In Ukraine, the number of household fires has decreased by 15%, head of the State Service for Emergency Situations Mykhailo Bolotskykh told a briefing, ForUm correspondent reports
"For the first time in the last five years we have a downward trend in household fires by 15% and the mortality rate of people - 8%," Bolotskykh said.
According to him, 62.260 fires occurred in 2012 and 52.336 - in 2013. "Last year fires killed 2.011 people, and this year - 1900. Every human life is precious and we will try to keep it," he said.
Bolotskykh also urged Ukrainians to comply with fire safety rules.
