Redemption of about 20% of the country's debt by investment fund Franklin Templeton (USA) is a positive signal, director of the Institute of Global Strategies Vadym Karasev told ForUm in exclusive comments.
According to the expert, it is a signal for both domestic and foreign financial markets and for leading rating agencies. "Most likely, this event will noticeably change the attitude of all these institutions towards Ukraine and its ability to pay," the analyst said.
He said that now it will be easier for Kyiv to raise capital from external markets. "And, of course, talks about the default of Ukraine lose any meaning. The important thing is that serious investors are interested in our debts and want to buy them. This will give a positive impetus to the rest of our partners," the expert stressed.
He added that all of thess factors will soon influence the whole domestic economy. "The effect may be noticeable by the end of this year," Karasev concluded.
