Publications in media about the fact that the National Bank of Ukraine is going to launch a forced conversion of foreign currency deposits into hryvnia ones are provocative, member of the supervisory board of Ukrainian Credit-Banking Union Yaroslav Kolesnyk stated.
"We discussed this issue with colleagues. It is obvious that the NBU will find other ways to solve the existing problems. There were no statements about plans to convert foreign currency deposits into hryvnia. Obviously, the NBU realizes that such measures are not possible due to contradiction of constitutional provisions regarding the inviolability of property rights of citizens," he said.
In this regard, according to the expert, these media reports are provocative.
"I am convinced that these are provocative reports. Unfortunately, journalists do not realize that such articles may undermine confidence in currency and banking system. These issues should be resolved more carefully and responsibly," Kolesnyk said.
