Some political forces destabilize situation in Ukraine, while the country needs consolidation of efforts, Prime Minister Mykola Azarov said, opening the Cabinet’s meeting, ForUm correspondent reports.
"The key to successful development of the Ukrainian economy is consolidation of government, business and citizens around the projects of the country modernization. Historical experience shows that sustainable development is impossible under political and economic fluctuations. During the chaotic post-Soviet transformations, Ukraine has not yet reached the level of GDP growth of 1990. Meanwhile, political stability in China resulted in three-fold increase in GDP. Unfortunately in Ukraine some forces destabilizing the situation," Azarov said.
According to him, Ukraine is going through an important stage of development, where mistakes can’t be done. "We have no right to make mistakes. We have neither extra time nor resources for the economic experiments and political confrontation. The challenge is clear. Ukraine's traditional competitive advantages are exhausted. Traditional markets do not provide a high rate of economic growth. So the government is to determine the points of economy growth and attract investments," PM said.
Premier believes that the government needs to focus on the modernization of production and the development of the internal market and infrastructure.
