Corruption is an obstacle for public development that's why the government intends to conduct tough anti-corruption policy, President at the Regional meeting of the World Economic Forum in Kyiv, the press service of the head of state reports.

"Since 2011, a series of steps has been made in order to establish modern preventive legislation. In 2013, 4 anti-corruption laws that fully meet European standards were adopted," the Head of State said.

According to him, capabilities of State Program on Prevention and Combating Corruption for 2011-2015 are being increased and the system of anti-corruption institutions is being improved.

"The most difficult yet the one of the most principled tasks of the nearest future is bringing order to public purchases, particularly making the legislation transparent, and creating conditions for foreign partners to enter this market," the President stressed.

"We intend to deliver a powerful and systematic attack on corruption in the country. Such policy should bring radical changes for the better in this old problem with which, unfortunately, Ukraine is closely associated in the minds of the international community over the last decade," Viktor Yanukovych emphasized adding that Ukraine was willing to continue the development of public institutions under the principles of democracy and economic freedom.
