The Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development has supported the initiative of Ukraine's Tax Police to host a World Forum of Tax Investigation Service Heads. The inaugural meeting will held in Istanbul on Nov 6, the Information-Analytical Bulletin of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine informs.

Ukraine's Cabinet of Ministers has put Colonel-General Andryi Holovatch, State Tax Service First Deputy Chair and Tax Police Chief, in charge of the delegation. Holovatch said that if this forum was successful, Ukraine would offer organize similar gatherings in the future.  

"Ukraine is ready not only to be the initiator of the process, but also take on the function of the organizer of a permanent venue in order to create conditions for continued efficient operations. We have all necessary experience," Holovatch said. 

Since September 2012, Ukraine has been co-chairing the Coordinating Council of heads of tax and financial investigation services of the CIS (CCTIS), which was founded in 1999. The exercize indicates that the initiatives and achievements of Ukrainian experts in this field have been appreciated at a high international level, as demonstrated by the recognition of foreign colleagues.

Ukraine is currently facing the challenge to implement the ambitious projects that have been initiated by the tax police leadership. They include the creation of a single international database of economic criminals. Europol is interested in the idea and its experts intend to take an active part in its practical development.
