Yanukovych promises harsh response to officials’ abuse of powers

President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych intends to harshly respond to the actions of officials, who abuse their power and authority. 

"In the near future we plan to establish reliable legal barriers to prevent conflicts of interest for civil servants and increase the responsibility for violation of the legislation on the provision of administrative services," the President said at the plenary session of the Council of domestic and foreign investors.

He noted that he will make tough decisions, regardless of political coloring of officials, who have abused power and authority for personal gain.

"Every honest investor, every law-abiding entrepreneur can rely on support of the government and the law enforcement agencies and on restoration of violated rights," the Head of State said.
