The President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych has submitted to the Parliament a new draft law on the prosecutor's office, adviser to the President of Ukraine Andriy Portnov told a briefing, ForUm correspondent reports.

"The President of Ukraine has submitted a draft law on the prosecutor's office to the Verkhovna Rada. This is another step of the President aimed at reforming the justice system. The Constitution stipulated that the prosecutor's office continued to perform oversight function of compliance with the law and the function of preliminary investigation. Now the President by this bill proposes to abolish these two functions. 112 specialized procurator's offices will be also eliminated," Portnov said.

According to him, the function court representation of Ukrainians by prosecutors will be cancelled as well. "This representation will work only with minors," he said.

"New reforms need to develop new and accurate system of public prosecution and European aspirations of Ukraine," he added.
