President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych emphasized the importance of eliminating such shameful phenomenon as wage arrears. It was stated by him at the solemn meeting on the occasion of the Day of Social Worker, the press service of the President reports.
"The first and the main task is to eliminate or significantly decrease the scale of problems we inherited from crisis 90th years of the last century. I am speaking first of all about such shameful phenomenon as wage arrears," the Head of State noted.
According to him, despite the steps made, wage arrears has been somewhere near 1 billion UAH for several years already. Old instruments and administrative approaches are no longer efficient. To solve this problem, it is necessary to find and implement the new mechanisms.
"The most disturbing situation is when the wages are not paid by the working enterprises that produce and sell goods but do not consider it necessary to pay the people who produced the given goods," Viktor Yanukovych noted adding that every such case should receive proper response from law enforcement and regulatory bodies.
As the Head of State stressed, another unsolved problem was the issue of legislative regulation of wage arrears of enterprises declared bankrupt long ago. "Regulatory solution is essential for the growing debt of enterprises in the context of refund of privileged pensions appointed for persons with hazardous working conditions in advance," the President said.
