President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych emphasized the importance of changing the essence and content of state social policy, the press service of the President reports.

"Today, only a quarter of social assistance is aimed at truly vulnerable groups of people," the Head of State stressed at the solemn meeting on the occasion of the Day of Social Worker yesterday.

The President added that an important component in that context was the transition to the system of standards of social services.

"Regardless of the place of residence, service providers and other circumstances of subjective nature, the state must provide equal set of support measures both in quantity and in quality for any social assistance," Viktor Yanukovych noted.

According to him, it is important to ensure the transition of social workers to the preemptive approach in work.

"The earlier vulnerable person will be "picked up" the easier will be the way of his or her "social recovery"; the easier it will be to protect the person from slipping into the category of poor or disadvantaged," Viktor Yanukovych added.

According to him, such methods will release significant funds that can be directed not only at the development of the system of social protection in general, but also at the solution of the most problematic issues of citizens.
