The President stressed the importance of increasing the prestige and quality of social work, he stated at the solemn meeting on the occasion of the Day of Social Worker, the press service of the President reports.
The Head of State noted that unfortunately social workers occupied almost the last place in the context of wages. It is the main reason of incomplete staffing of social services and reluctance of youth to work in this sphere. According to the President, such situation is inadmissible and requires correction.
"Social worker shouldn't be subject to social protection as poor. The system of training, retraining and advanced training of social workers must work in full force," Yanukovych emphasized.
He also focused attention on the necessity of modernizing the material-technical base of social facilities and repair of premises "that haven't seen the repair for ages".
"I would like heads of the local government to hear my words and properly respond to them," the Head of State said.
