Roads along tourist routes will be fixed and improved, minister of culture Leonid Novokhatko said during signing the agreement on cooperation for 2013-2020 between the Ministry of Culture and Ministry of Infrastructure, ForUm's correspondent reports.
"The Ministry would like the roads near cultural sites to be better, and I mean the roads our and foreign ministers use. Thus, we had a nice talk with the minister for infrastructure and decided on signing a relevant Agreement," Novokhatko said.
According to him, there are three work streams to focus on: improvement of roads near "Shevchenko sites"; near seven Ukrainian monuments, included into the list of world heritage; and near monuments, museums, natural reserves, etc.
"We welcome the proposition of the culture minister. We have similar task - to promote our country as a tourist destination, and for this we must create proper infrastructure," minister for infrastructure Volodymyr Kozak said in turn and added that in the short term the government would consider sources of financing of this project.
