Ukrainian foreign minister Leonid Kozhara is confident that Ukraine's association with the EU will have a positive effect, including for Russia, he said at a meeting of the subcommittee for international cooperation of the Russian-Ukrainian interstate commission in Rostov-on-Don on Monday.
"We offered our Russian colleagues to set up an expert group between Russia, Ukraine and the EU in order to analyze in a spirit of openness the possible consequences of association for Ukraine," he said, Interfax-Ukraine informed.
"Association with the EU and the signing of a free trade agreement will have a positive effect, including for Russia and our colleagues in the Customs Union and the CIS," he added.
