Ukraine has proposed to establish a permanent consulting institution "Ukraine-European Union-Customs Union and hopes the initiative will find support, President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych told the sitting of the Council of CIS heads in Minsk, ForUm's correspondent reports.
"The European Commission has been discussing the cooperation model among Ukraine, the European Union and Customs Union and does not mind Ukraine seeking ways to overcome trade barriers among CIS countries," the President said.
According to him, having created the free trade are with the European Union and having fixed cooperation with the Customs Union, Ukraine may become a drive of economic cooperation on the whole Eurasian continent.
The President added that Ukrainian joint enterprises with CIS countries' capitals may use preferences to export their production to Europe. "Development of relations between Ukraine and the EU by no means obstruct effective cooperation among countries-members of CIS FTA and CU states. Trading and economic cooperation within such formats fully meets the accepted norm of the WTO," Yanukovych pointed out.
He also noted that Ukraine understands and respects worries of CIS partners. "Yesterday we talked with Vladimir Putin and discussed certain worries regarding the trading regime with Ukraine after the establishment of the FTA with the European Union," Yanukovych summed up.
