Murmansk Regional Court upheld the decision of a lower court to arrest for two months Ukrainian Ruslan Yakushev, a cook from the Arctic Sunrise ship, who was hired by Greenpeace and detained by Russian border guards, ITAR-TASS reported, citing a Greenpeace representative.

"Tthe court had rejected an appeal against Yakushev's arrest. Like other Greenpeace activists, he remains in custody until November 24," reads the statement, Ukrinform informed.

Russia's Investigative Committee said that the article under which the charges were earlier brought against the activists (piracy committed by an organized group) had been changed to the softer article (hooliganism). Thus, unlike the first article that envisaged up to ten years in prison, the new article foresees imprisonment of up to seven years.
