The Association Agreement between Ukraine and the European Union could be signed even without the treatment of former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko abroad, chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Volodymyr Rybak said in an interview with the Focus magazine.
Answering the question about possibility of signing the Agreement without Tymoshenko’s treatment abroad or her release, he said that the main commitments of Ukraine to the EU had been outlined, and this list does not include a point on Tymoshenko.
"I think the signing of the Agreement is possible without resolving this issue, if Europe sees the progress in the preparation process for her treatment," Rybak said.
According to Rybak, the signing of the agreement is a beginning of the road towards the European family, and 28 countries should ratify the document. And at this stage the question of Tymoshenko will still be raised, Rybak said.
"If at least one country does not approve the agreement, we will have to hold talks, clarify the reasons, etc," he said.
